Dr. Alysa Nguyen, ND, LAc
Dr. Alysa Nguyen was born in Vietnam and grew up in San Diego, California. Since an early age, she was interested in studying natural medicine so that she could help care for loved ones with natural, safe and effective medicines. The use of herbal medicines in her own family and culture inspired her to explore its use and effectiveness. This led to her conducting research projects on the use of herbs and nutrients as medicines, for which she received awards from the state as well as the prestigious Scripps Research Institute in California. She then went on to do her premedical studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Physiological Science and minor in French.
Dr. Nguyen has worked in different areas of healthcare alongside medical doctors, chiropractors, nutritionists, naturopaths, and acupuncturists, but it was working at the Gerson Institute supporting people with cancer and chronic illnesses that she found her calling to serve others. She saw how simple lifestyle changes, good nutrition, and natural therapies could be used to treat and prevent the most challenging conditions. Inspired by the stories of people overcoming chronic illnesses, the power of natural medicine, and the desire to help people, Dr. Alysa Nguyen went to Bastyr University, in Seattle, Washington and obtained her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine as well as a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental medicine. Her training included a rotation at the Shanghai TCM Hospital working with doctors in various departments such as gynecology, internal medicine, and traumatology. She has advanced training in bio-identical hormone replacement, intravenous nutritional therapy, treating complex thyroid disorders and autoimmune conditions, and natural fertility awareness and management. She is continually learning, researching and adding new therapies to help her patients. She has been in practice since 2007.
